Winter at Great Gable print from Original Oil Painting
Snow scenes are something I like doing a lot, especially with Oils. I love the glow of a fire shining out of a window in the distance it makes me want to be inside warming in front of a roaring fire.
For me there’s nothing like the magic of snow on the landscape. it changes an ordinary scene into a something much more special, some people could call them twee, but for me they are wrapped up in a kind of nostalgia, a comforting warmth and cosiness that’s hard to describe but a real draw to paint, something you feel inside.
I think my style of painting is one which has developed over time and is still evolving with each new painting. I try to capture a sense of realism, of being there, with out being a slave to photo realism. I think its also imprtant to keep pushing the boundaries of what your comfortable with, not to settle into a formula of what works.
